Hi all,

Netlabel Day is for July 14th. All around the world the independent scene will be celebrated. The full list of releases will be available on July, 4, and the participating labels are 82.

The initiative gathered a good coverage among major actors of free/open licensed music or media, sur as The Internet Archive, Free Music Archive and more.

No need to say that with my label, Slcnc Music, I'll be there with a release. A live one, to be true, that was just recorded yesterday.

For once, we got a pretty got recording source. Forget about the dirty sound of "Live at Fête de la Musique Janneyrias 2014", or the mp3 compression of the 2012 edition. Our recorder was able to record at 22050 hz in lossless mono, and the overall quality is quite good.

The videos are already online. But the real album will not be only the soundtrack cut in pieces. At the postproduction stage, we'll bend the signal enough to have something funny to listen to on a stereo speakers system. A simple mastering will be done, just putting compression here or there, normalize, nothing much.

I'm currently looking for someone to provide a square art cover, if you're interested please contact ; you shall agree that your artwork will be available upon the terms of the Creative Commons By Nc Sa license, and naturally if any commercial exploitation should be made with your artwork, we'll ask you for a permission and purpose to enter in an agreement for a case-by-case usage of your work.

The album title will be "Live Fête de la Musique Janneyrias 2015" by Me In The Bath, but this time it was us in the bath, I mean, I've been joined by a drummer, and not just for or three songs, but for the whole set. And (drum rolls) a bassist ! We improvised everything but the final "Somethin'" song, which is a classic of Gorbie's Stuff that I wrote in 2004.

The drummer was Turm, who was my comrade in many bands, playing guitar and singing in Gorbie's Stuff and Beatles II (remember the 2002 party "soirée de départ de Chacha au Japon" on the plateau above Crémieu ? There were someone with a camera, we played there, and would enjoy a copy ! )

Turm was hat the drum, then. I have to say that he made a sort of big leap in his drummer skill, and we enjoyed his tricky arrangements, he never went tired and was on the time...

But actually not. I mean, we had to tune the sound with the mixing table without him, but a drummer in the room was kind enough to play with us.

Le morse des mers was on time. After the usual wait in such events, we started so, with the drummer, to play a bit...

And it was, at the beginning, a total failure, but as we played we set up the simple tactic to decide not for a key, but for a chord progression a the beginning of each song, and things got much easier.

Turm finally came, with Alex, both of them are the sole members of Radio Predator, who went then for the sound checkup, and started to play immediately after that, with Alex playing the guitar and Turm the drums. I joined their two guitars configuration, playing the drums with them for three covers, the final one with just Turm playing the guitar and singing.

Then it was our time to play. Everything seemed ok, but when we started playing, the bass had no sound. It was a simple canvas in D and B, that we played while the bass problem was solved, as an intro. And we played back theses chords for the first real song, and I started to sing... And to sweat, I had forgotten how hot a stage could be.

Between each song, we were deciding of a chord progression. Le morse recycled one that I identified as from his legendary band "Brainless On Line". You can hear us talking and deciding briefly between each song.

I asked Turm after a while, if he was tired, he said no, we continued to play...

But it was my voice, that I put too far during the set, that was starting to fail, and I asked "On s'arrête là ? " (Do we stop here ? ). But at the request of the band, We played one of the most known song I wrote, Somethin, initially for Gorbie's Stuff - I wrote music, guitar arrangements, bass arrangements and lyrics, I'm pretty much the author of this song but for some reasons I consider that my old fellows from Gorbie's Stuff could be bored to hear a sample or whatever, even for a strict non commercial usage, and I always used to put the later interpretations I made from this song under By-Nc-Nd. That's why Matmix's cover is under By-Nc-Nd, he asked for the right to publish a cover, with the sole agreement that he would put it on a single commercial website, YouTube, a right that we granted him with pleasure.

But now for the next Netlabel Day, we recorded a cover of this song that will be mandatory under by-nc-sa... I'm sort of concerned by this. I always choose each license very carefully. Netlabel Day wants a collection of by-nc-sa music, nothing else, and I have to do with this.

And we played Somethin' then... And it has been a painful experience, fighting with my voice to conclude the show...

news

I'm deeply sorry, but I think that after the publication of the live album planned for Netlabel Day, Me In The Bath will enter into a long, very long sleep time.
I cancelled the preorder for the second release I planned for the event ; it won't be ready on time. Fortunately enough, no one ordered it. I don't know when I'll get back to work on this release.
My health is still quite bad, I haven't been able to record anything since a long time ago ; furthermore, I think I put too much suffering and pain in my music. All I hear when I listen to my recent songs is sickness, sadness, despair and pain. I'm so tired. I don't want to continue this way.
Many thanks go to all my fans and listeners, for the comments and cheers over these five years. But I need a break. A long one.
Artistically speaking, I think I'll put all this mess on stage for the live recording of the June 20 concert, with the support of Turm (Beatles II, Gorbie's Stuff) at the drums and Le morse des mers (Brainless On Line, Raving Lunatics, Jumping Stools) at the bass. It will be a definitive, strong and clear message to the world. Don't sleep on it.
Bye,
Shang
